#AutoimmuneAwarenessMonth

Not only is F.N.D Awareness day is the 25th but this month has been autoimmune illness awareness month. If you haven’t already head to Health and Disability page to read about my various illnesses. https://georgiana3026.wixsite.com/mybeautifultrauma/health-dissability. You will see I have quite a few illnesses. Something I feel so strongly about is giving out as many tips of how life works for people who suffer from autoimmune illness. I have a pinterest board all about life with autoimmune challenges and quotes about how we really feel. https://www.pinterest.nz/MyBeautifulTr/autoimmune-illness/. A pin that I love which describes everything! https://www.pinterest.nz/pin/AVK39jT_yN8FbaXXrwcC8Ibmd7KlnIzGN99yQs9ik4iFLSdlnIj__UQ/

Here are some tips about showing grace towards us who have to face the challenges that we have to face

  • Think about the spoon theory, we only have a certain amount of spoons for the day. Just getting out of bed is one spoon, getting dressed is one spoon, sometimes 2, depending on your fatigue levels, Making breakfast and having your morning coffee can take up to 3 spoons. Hopefully you’re getting the picture. We wake up with a certain amount of spoons, Each minute task which “normal” people do without thinking about takes a spoon, Every day we have to think about what we Have to do to what we can do another day. On our “good” days we may seem like we have all the energy in the world and can climb Mount Everest, but this usually means we will have fewer spoons the next day. http://www.scarymommy.com/spoon-theory-chronic-illness/

  • Just because we look well, doesn’t mean we are, One of the worst things you can say is “You’re looking well.” Actually our body is still working hard within itself. And we still have our illnesses

  • Allow us to accept the fact our illnesses are lifelong, meaning our life means we will always be in and out of hospital because of having “flares” or the medication we are on suppresses our ability to fight infection, therefore will need IV antibiotics

  • Any Flu or cold is like we have been hit by a bus because our bodies have to fight harder. We will look and feel like death!

  • We are not selfish for not being able to think about others, I was once told that you have to look after yourself first in order to care for others. I have a friend who has autoimmune illness and she dedicates her life to supporting others who are in need, I have so much respect and admiration towards her. I love you :)
