How to stay positive and have good vibes this winter

The winter months are upon us! Winter can get quite depressing with all the wind, rain and snow on the hills giving off that chill that’s in the air. Have you wondered what you could do to make the winter months more bearable? I most certainly have! With anything that comes my way that can seem depressing, I like to challenge myself to find the good in the negative. Can I challenge you to try hard and look for a way to make this winter more bearable?
To help here are some tips!

Think of winter as a time to layer up! Go out and look for slippers, socks, sweaters, gloves, scarfs, gumboots. The days are dull, why don’t you add some colour to your winter wardrobe? Here’s your chance

The cold, wet, and the dreary days aren’t the best motivation for being productive or leaving the house. Maybe you could try and find a new hobby that brings fun and enjoyment into the dull days? What's something new you’ve always wanted to try? One year I took up knitting and knitted my niece a cute pink, winter scarf!

On the days you want to blob out you can watch movies/Netflix in bed, wrap yourself in cosy blankets so you feel snuggly and warm. If you don’t have internet, I’m sure there’s a book that you been meaning to start or finish. Now's your chance!

NZ houses can be freezing and power bills can get quite expensive. Why not try some more economical ways to keep warm such as drinking a hot chocolate, tea or soup in a cup to warm you from the inside out and make your tummy smile :)

One thing I love doing is making my space as homely as I can, take a day to make your space more inviting, cosy and comfy as humanly possible.

When you really can’t get warm, take a relaxing hot bath or shower (whatever you prefer).

Another thing I love doing especially in the winter months is lighting a candle or incense. It always makes me feel good from the inside out! Why don’t you give it a try?

Winter is cold and it can make it harder to travel to see your friends. Why not write a letter or use social media to keep in touch with other people. This way you can stay in touch with others while keeping cosy in your home when the days are wet and miserable.

- If you want or need human to human contact, invite other friends and or neighbours over for a dinner party! You can stay indoors, or others could come to you. Bake some yummy goodies that are plentiful for your guests and make sure you make extra to have another time. While you're baking goods, listen to your favourite musician or band and have a little boogie!
- One last tip! Make sure to spread positive words and vibes to others this winter!
“one kind word
can warm three months of winter”
