Purple May Pop-up!
Last year during May I asked all my friends and followers to wear purple sending out emails spreading awareness for Lupus and Fibromyalgia. This year I wanted to go bigger, hiring out a venue out for people to come in and chat, hearing about both illnesses, with activities going on for walk ins to join in. I organised it, turned up to the venue not expecting many people come through, however I have been pleasantly surprised! Each day there were a steady amount of people who came each day giving donations and buying all all the baking my boyfriend baked for the bake sale Saturday afternoon and to top it all off I sold some of my autobiography books that were available for purchase!
As much as I felt this year went better I had thought, here are some ideas I felt I can do better. I will definitely ask for help from others and try not to hold the space, as I have come away from it pleased and happy for how it turned out but Exhausted!
I would also plan many months before, even though I got loads done, like make all the bunting and butterfly quilt as decorations to make the space more inviting, and other things ready and organised a week before.
I would write something to say to those who came in, because when I get tired I can’t think what to say on the top of my head, which left some awkward silences.
Unfortunately I couldn't make it till the 6th/final day as I was exhausted to the point of having NFDs and vomiting.
I want to finish on a positive, I feel that despite so negatives it was a success!
Thanks to all who came for support and helped out! XX
