What does Easter represent for you? Let me know what your traditions of Easter are, I would love to hear from you. :)
I grew up in a ‘Christian’ household so we would celebrate Jesus’s death and resurrection. Easter Monday would be the day we were allowed to chow down our chocolate egg. I love the marshmallow eggs and a creme egg as a treat for Jesus coming back to life.
Church services would be on Good Friday mourning Jesus’s death, and repenting for our sins. Easter Sunday is about celebrating Jesus rising from death.
I also love spending time with loved ones and lighting a candle for those who have passed.
As a Jesus believer, before Easter we celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Tuesday) is the day that precedes Ash Wednesday .The day gets its name from the tradition of Christians trying to be 'shriven' before Lent. Christians would go to Confession, where they admit their sins to a priest and ask for absolution. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is always 46 days before Easter Sunday.
Lent is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays) marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. We give up something for all of lent (Shriven) to represent our sacrifice to God/Jesus.
