Fibromyalgia
My Journey with Fibromyalgia
It started when I needed a hysterectomy to stop the non-stop two-year menstruation. I was very tired, sore all the time, and nauseous. My body was being put through a very traumatic and trying time. One night I was helped to bed because my joints were very sore and were swelling up, a common occurance back then. The pain got so bad I had to be helped to bed. My legs began to feel heavy, as if they were tied down to the ground, and each little movement felt like I had electric shocks going through my whole body. Every day became a nightmare, and, I would be in tears every time I tried to walk through the excruciating pain.

I was in and out of hospital in intense pain, until I went to see my rheumatologist specialist for Lupus, and he diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia can be described as a complex chronic pain disorder that affects your whole body in different ways.

For me personally, my symptoms include nausea, shooting pains throughout my body, fatigue and sleeping issues. The specialist put me on a small dose of Amitriptyline, which seemed to help, and resting helped a lot. Treatment such as Amitriptyline can help, but this condition can't be cured.
